Travels on a Path

I traveled far to find you;
I walked a thousand steps and returned with blisters on my feet.
I traveled far to hear you speak;
I climbed the tallest mountain and returned with ruptured eardrums.
I traveled far to see your face;
I swam across the sea and returned blinded by sea water.
I traveled far to touch you;
I crawled through mazes of trees and returned with scabs upon my knee.
I traveled many roads of the world;
But could not find you along these paths.
Weary and broken,
I came back to my own path, seeking rest upon a familiar rock.
In stillness, I opened the door to my heart
and you traveled not so far to enter.
And on this path,
we journeyed as though we had never been apart.
